My daughter spent a semester in the south of India. I met her for a walk about. Together we visited The Gate of India and the palace in New Delhi. Oh, to be a maharajah! No picture can convey the beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. It was surrounded by tourists from all countries, but mostly the Middle East. We met Iraqis, good humored guys who were on holiday.

My traveling companions included my buddy Judy and Kandi and Ashley who are twins. Kandi spent the semester studying at the same school my daughter visited. Wherever we were, Indians wanted to have their pictures taken with the girls. The twins charmed them and my daughter being a tall redhead was a novelty. The photo of a class of schoolgirls is a snapshot of what I learned in India. I learned about arranged marriages–how the girls feel, how the parents perceive them. Great fodder for books!
