I am humbled. And charmed. It is a good combination, especially around the holidays. Let me start at the beginning: I found a box of oracle blessing cards. There were forty-six in a box and I thought wouldn’t it be fun to offer them to my newsletter friends—the Max Pack—during this season of light and love. I…
Words rule my life. I understand their power to persuade, to elevate, to devalue, and to heal. They can make me feel as if I am not alone. They allow others to share their insight and wisdom. They help me define my feelings. They become a touchstone. This poem by Donna Ashworth titled “Loss” is…
Have you noticed how many romances deal with siblings of the same sex? And how, when the siblings are all sisters things can be . . . complicated? Or perhaps it is just me. I come from a family where all the children were female. My sisters and I treated our father very well and were close…
I spend hours for days on end thinking about why people fall in love. And not just any love but the kind of love that lasts a lifetime—and here is one thing I know is true: Love without acceptance is an empty emotion. Granted, showing acceptance to everyone I love can be a bit of…

I used to avoid book signings until I learned how fun they were with readers ready to have a good time. Now I am a Reader Fan! (In Houston, TX with the wonderful Tessa Dare and the folks at Katy Budget Books) I adore folks who want to celebrate this genre I love so much…
I have decided that one of the major problems of dating in the last half of life is that we all “know better “ by now. Experience has been a tough teacher. For example, that sarcastic wit I used to find attractive when I was younger I now understand can become a cruel tool. A…
I want to talk to those of you who don’t have anyone to love. The reasons are many: you haven’t met “the one” yet, you broke up with someone who could have been “the one,” you divorced “the–used to be–one,” or like myself you’ve lost someone dear to you. Christmas can be a tough time…
